Xino : This album is dedicated to the training progress of my Lusitano gelding, Xino. His first formal classical lessons started in August of 2005 when he was two years, two months old. I will put the latest ones first to make it convenient to follow his current sessions. Since arriving in Indian Hills in October 2003 at four and a half months, Xino has undergone training using clicker, doing ground work and round pen work a la Natural Horsemanship and Linda Tellington Jones, all of which served him well to accept his formal training sessions with Bill and Sheri Landers.
NEW as of January, 2007: See this video footage of Xino's sire, Istoso: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=23217412499664917&hl=en

Comet : This is Comet, my eight year old (as of March 2005) Saddlebred gelding. His basic training consisted of Natural Horsemanship and Linda Tellington-Jones, and some initial training with Crista Vesel and then some under-saddle work with Kari Crawford, for about a year total in 2004/2005. We're going back to basics to cover more in-hand and long lining work with Bill and Sheri Landers and see if we can get him more focused, supple and in self carriage, after having done some under saddle work on the trails. All this is reinforced with clicker training, and it really helps! Now, as of 2009, Kathy Dusser is helping get Comet where he needs to be, not to mention me!

G'Donya, Rex! (GR) : Although GR is 27 years old as of June, 2005, it's never too late to go back to basics! I'm hoping to start him off with Bill and Sheri Landers in the autumn, so stay tuned. His basic training is pretty much non-existent, except for a little Natural Horsemanship -- all his training is "on the job!" GR is an off-the track Thoroughbred gelding who was an exercise pony horse on the track for seven years before coming to me at almost 12 years old.

Sadly, we never got to this training -- GR started having uveitis in his only good eye, and had lameness problems after injuring himself in the pasture, probably from loss of sight. I finally lost GR in March, 2006, so I won't have any training photos of us. He was active right up to the end, giving me a fabulous ride a couple of weeks before he died. The energy of that horse never ceased to amaze me! He taught me a lot over the sixteen years that we were together.
