Although GR is 27 years old as of June, 2005, it's never too late to go back to basics! I'm hoping to start him off with Bill and Sheri Landers in the autumn, so stay tuned. His basic training is pretty much non-existent, except for a little Natural Horsemanship -- all his training is "on the job!" GR is an off-the track Thoroughbred gelding who was an exercise pony horse on the track for seven years before coming to me at almost 12 years old.
Sadly, we never got to this training -- GR started having uveitis in his only good eye, and had lameness problems after injuring himself in the pasture, probably from loss of sight. I finally lost GR in March, 2006, so I won't have any training photos of us. He was active right up to the end, giving me a fabulous ride a couple of weeks before he died. The energy of that horse never ceased to amaze me! He taught me a lot over the sixteen years that we were together.
